My photographs are about questions. They are not about answers.Duane Michals
I work narratively and conceptually.
My photographs do not depict the world. Whoever photographs, curates. I arrange, I direct the gaze, and in doing so I shape how we perceive.
Technical precision is not my goal.
I deliberately stay with photographic techniques and still want to go further than the medium usually goes. What matters to me are images that arouse curiosity, make you think and, on longer looking, reveal hidden stories and unexpected details.
Much fascinates me.
The silence of a city slowly sinking into the sand. The hectic energy of Grand Central in New York. Intimate portraits of human encounter. Studies of movement that capture the core of a moment. Improbable encounters in familiar surroundings.
Places where time stands still.
Moments just before they tip over.
Every one of my works is an invitation to see the familiar with new eyes.
